For those in the New England area, the most ideal approach involves working from live sessions. This ensures the creation of the finest portrait, capturing a certain energy that working from photos may not always allow.

Not in the area? No problem!  I am more than capable of working from photographs as well. I prefer arranging a photoshoot to take my own references, either on-site or at my studio based in Portland, ME. While I can use client-provided images, there are specific requirements for satisfactory final results:

• The image must be clear and free of blur in crucial areas.

• The image must maintain a neutral color balance (no sepia tones, edits, etc.).

• The image must be of high quality (visible pixels upon zooming in are not suitable).

While I can make certain adjustments, such as removing glasses or changing the background, I cannot create entirely fabricated poses, lighting, etc. If you're unsure which photo to send, feel free to share a few – we'll find the perfect one together! The collaborative process is flexible, ensuring that together we will create a truly special final result!

Timing depends on factors such as size, medium, and intricacy of the piece, but it will generally be done between 3 weeks - 3 months. We will discuss the schedule during our consultation call or via email.
